School nursing

Trained Public Health Nurses perform screenings for vision at all Putnam County Schools. Vision testing is completed in grades Kindergarten, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11.  Screening does not replace an examination by a doctor. When the screening is not passed, a referral letter is sent home to parents recommending their child be seen by a physician or health care professional.
